Nutritional Advice

"My son Sam 17, is a competitive swimmer for Scarborough Swimming Club at District and County Championship level. Last autumn his times weren’t improving and seemed to be going backwards, so we decided to introduce a structured land based training plan. We asked Allan Price because of his excellent reputation locally of his work with all age groups.

Allan devised a sports specific program for Sam, accompanying him at the gym up to 3 times per week. In a case of a few weeks, Sam lost weight, toned up and was fitter than ever. He has started to pb in his favoured sprint events and is continuing to do so. This is excellent preparation for university where he is expected to join the performance squad at Leeds Beckett.

Allan has also set up a hypertrophy program for my eldest son Adam 23, who has recently gone through a tough time. He has also accompanied Adam to the gym 3 times per week. This has boosted my sons esteem and self-confidence considerably. I can’t recommend Allan strongly enough for the help, encouragement and advice he has provided, and at the very least has been an inspiration to both my sons."

Mrs Michelle Broadley, 15 York Terrace,Whitby

"My son was released from York City Football Club at Under 15. The coach said he was lazy, too slow and overweight, this totally destroyed my son’s confidence. It was a bitter pill to swallow because four months previous the same coach gave my son a glowing report.

This was when we decided to approach Allan about providing our son with a personalised training program, this turned out to be the best decision we have ever made. Allan not only designed a specific program but he has also rebuilt my son’s confidence. This was done by regular fitness assessments and improvements presented. The program was very diverse and helped my son improve his Strength, Speed (SAQ), Stamina, Suppleness, Power, Balance and his Core Stability.

My son is now back enjoying his football, he’s so much leaner, quicker over the ground and his overall play is much better. He is currently playing for Redcar Town FC under 17’s and has been approached by Middlesbrough FC and Hartlepool United FC scouts. He is also currently studying at Redcar College and plays for their Academy side under Coach Mark Proctor. He now has aspirations of playing football in America by completing a scholarship. None of this would have been possible without the help of Allan. We cannot thank him enough."

Dave Blythman, 48 Lowdale Lane, Sleights, Whitby

"Just wanted to say thank you. I can’t believe the difference I have felt since only starting in July! When I started, I was in constant pain with my back. That’s now pretty much gone, I’m losing weight, gaining strength, flexibility and with it, confidence. Thanks again."

My approach

NASM is a worldwide respected qualification. Therefore I use their integrated training model called the Optimum Performance Training model. The model provides a system for properly and safely progressing any client to his/ her goals, by using integrated training methods. It consists of three building blocks- stabilisation, strength and power.

The stabilisation phase 1 addresses muscular imbalances and attempts to improve stabilisation of joints and overall posture. This is the component that most traditional trainers and programs leave out. This phase reduces the risk of injury and makes sure all muscles are firing properly in later phases of training.

The strength level focuses on enhancing stabilisation while increasing muscle size or maximal strength. Most traditional programs begin at this phase and, as a result, often lead to injury. This training block has 3 phases –phase 2: strength endurance, phase 3: hypertrophy and phase 4: maximal strength.

Finally phase 5 is power training, this phase is for athletes and sports performers wanting to improve their athletic performance through strength and speed training.
